Good deals on current accounts on offer

26 March, 2008

There are "lots of good offers" available for those looking for a new current account, one expert has claimed

David Kuo, head of personal finance at fool.co.uk, explained that when looking for a current account, people should consider their own personal circumstances because there is "no one size fits all" approach.

He said: "Thanks to the plethora of choices, consumers can find one account that most suits their lifestyle."

Students should look for an account that offers them the highest level of flexibility when it comes to an overdraft, but should also bear in mind that fees can mount up if they go over their agreed limit, Kuo added.

He also pointed out that Alliance and Leicester's Premier Direct Current Account pays an interest rate of 8.5 per cent, but that this only applies to the first £2,500 in the account.

The account only pays 0.1 per cent more than this on balances over this level, he concluded.
