Get set for summer

2 May, 2007

Each year over 3.1 million Brits take their car across the Channel, but without the right insurance policy it could cost you more than £2,000 extra to get back

“Our summer survey revealed that over one in ten holiday makers have broken down whilst abroad,” says marketing manager for American Express Insurance Services, Joanne Field. “That’s over 350,000 drivers who had to seek help with their cars whilst on holiday – breaking down is never a pleasant experience, let alone when abroad.”

American Express Insurance Services now offer Emergency Vehicle Assistance Cover for drivers, offering roadside parts and assistance, up to £1,200 cover for fire, theft, accidental damage or breakdown, alternate driver cover, break in and camping cover and repatriation for both you and your car.

Premiums start at a mere £24.50 for a 3-day trip, or only £62.95 for Annual European cover for one car.

There is also a 24-hour help line which is open 365 days of the year and includes UK cover, and a UK point of contact who will guide drivers back to the road and onward to their destination.
